John Desmond has been appointed Chairman of RECI at the AGM in June. He succeeds Thomas Heffernan who has completed his two year term of office.

Mr Desmond, from Bandon, was first elected to the board in 1997 representing Independent contractors in Munster. He is the Managing Director of Dessi Electrical Ltd and Dessi Lightning Protection Ireland Ltd.
He commenced his electrical contracting business in 1974 and a decade later he branched out into the lightning protection side of the electrical trade. He carries out contracts in the Cork and West Cork areas.
Speaking at the AGM Mr Desmond said “ I have taken the role of Chairman of RECI as we enter into a new era in the regulation of the electrical contracting industry with respect to safety and I look forward to the challenges ahead”.
