The new Cardiff City Stadium, home to both Cardiff City Football Club and the Cardiff Blues rugby union team, has been fitted out with FP Plus cable from Prysmian. The 27,000 all-seater facility will be the second largest stadium in Wales after the Millennium Stadium and consequently needed a durable and proven cable to power the essential life safety systems

Electrical subcontractors Tiger-Fire & Security carried out the installation, under instruction from primary electrical contractor NG Bailey. Site based project manager, Russell Morgan of Tiger-Fire & Security, commented, "We used FP Plus enhanced cable in the life safety electrical installation, white for the public address and voice activation systems and red for the fire alarm system."
Russell said, "As an installer myself, I like using Prysmian cable as it dresses very well and bends whilst still holding its shape, better than others in fact. Secondly, it strips very easily and is simple and quick to terminate. Thirdly, the cable complies with all the relevant standards, a necessity for a stadium fit-out where thousands of people could be at risk in an emergency." FP Plus is fully compliant with all the requirements for enhanced cables approved for fire detection and fire alarm critical signal paths to BS5839-1:2002 and voice alarm systems to BS5839-8:2008 in enhanced application areas and emergency lighting systems to BS5266-1:2005.
Due to the sheer size of the project, over 20,000 metres of cable have been installed, with the total cost of the electrical and mechanical work almost £5million. Tiger-Fire & Security started work on the project in April 2008 and completed the work earlier this year. The venue will be officially opened on 22nd July, when Cardiff City F.C. will play a pre-season friendly against Glasgow giants Celtic. Spanish side Valencia visit on the 1st August for another friendly before the new season starts on 8th August.
