Speaking  at  the launch the Tánaiste said: “In today’s economic conditions both  businesses  and households are concerned about controlling energy use and  costs  and identifying savings opportunities.  Businesses are now more keenly aware than ever of the challenges posed by increased energy costs and the imperative to reduce carbon emissions.  In this context, more and more businesses are making energy efficiency and alternative energy sources a key element of basic business management operations.  Sustainable Energy Ireland  (SEI) offers a number of supports and programmes to businesses and homeowners in this area”.

The guide clearly details the current phase-out of incandescent lamps and how this will affect all users. The guide contains many Accelerated Capital Allowance approved products to provide tax savings for businesses investing in energy efficient products.

The energy saving guide covers a wide range of environmentally friendly solutions in domestic and commercial lamps and lighting including case studies of projects undertaken by hotels and schools resulting in large savings on energy usage. The guide also promotes sustainable energy products such as solar panels and heat recovery. In addition the guide also aims to educate industrial energy users of the benefits of power factor correction and the use of variable speed drives to reduce their energy consumption with the environmental and economic benefits.

FEGIME Ireland developed a new concept logo “FEGIME ENERGY” for the project which has been a great success to date. The publication was produced with a personalised cover for each of the members in Ireland. The guide includes many of FEGIME’s partners such as ABB, Hager, Schneider, Osram, Philips, Theben & MK.

The guide covers energy efficient lamps and luminaires as well as outlining to consumers in detail how the phase out of incandescent lamps in the EU will happen. The guide also contains information on presence detection systems, time switches, heating controls, heat recovery and solar panels.

FEGIME Ireland also included theory and information on products such as power factor correction, variable speed drives and soft starts to educate consumers about the benefits.

The members of FEGIME in Ireland are very happy with this publication and look forward to presenting it to their customers. FEGIME Ireland was delighted to be joined at the launch by members of the FEGIME Europe board of directors, FEGIME Ireland directors and staff, colleagues from FEGIME Polska, Deutschland, Nederland, Italia, Romania, España & Portugal alongside suppliers and press.
