As part of the Group’s global annual fund raising programme “Luli week”, Schneider Electric Ireland along with its sister companies Schneider Buildings and APC, by Schneider Electric launched numerous fund raising activities in the summer 2009 to aid the Irish Youth Foundation.
Employees in Ireland across all sites worked together last year during the annual Luli week and succeeded in raising €3,000 to go towards the further education costs of three aspiring pupils.
The three students are hoping to graduate this year in the engineering and electrical fields. One of the commitments they have made to Schneider Electric is that they will give back some of their time and expertise to their local communities.
Jim Rice, Managing Director, Schneider Electric Ireland said “Luli is a week organised by the Schneider Electric Foundation in aid of local sustainable partnerships created with associations working on social integration. We are proud of Schneider Electric’s employee’s commitment to this cause.”
Bill Cullen, President of the Irish Youth Foundation, explained “Young people need all the help we can give them to get qualifications and build the new Ireland. This is a great example of corporate responsibility by Schneider Electric, who has been a loyal supporter of the IYF for many years”.
The funds were raised by Schneider Electric employees through raffles, a virtual cross entity cycle challenge, one hour pay donations and other creative promotions.
In recognition of the efforts made in Ireland, the Schneider Electric Foundation has kindly offered to contribute to the donations made. Schneider Electric Foundation’s mission is to sponsor associative projects in support of disadvantaged young people in their training and professional insertion projects for jobs in electricity.
