Legrand has further enhanced its outdoor power credentials by launching a new range of Plexo weatherproof wiring devices that is ideal for residential and commercial applications.

The new IP55 rated range meets the growing demand for increased flexibility and functionality when it comes to external electricity supply, and can aid Part L compliance.
The range’s all-round flexibility has been achieved through the development of a surface mounting back box and flush mounting support frame that can be fitted with a full range of modular wiring device functions. Furthermore, the development of a new Legrand module adaptor means f the company’s Arteor wiring devices can be integrated into the range should there be a need for example for external home automation systems or international sockets. All core products are also available as monobloc solutions.
Legrand UK marketing manager, Caroline Boden said: “The outdoor wiring device market has changed dramatically in recent years. First and foremost the increased demand for external power supplies in gardens, garages and sheds has led to a need for more functionality and greater flexibility when it comes to external wiring devices.
“On top of that the demand for flush mounted products has grown significantly as a result of hygiene issues in commercial and industrial applications, and as homeowners take far greater interest in the appearance of external sockets.”
Part L compliancy is aided by Plexo 55 light sensitive switches that satisfy the need for an external energy efficient lighting system in residential applications, and within wet rooms in commercial applications.
As well as meeting these end-user and regulatory requirements, the new range addresses contractor needs for products that are easier and quicker to install. Key developments include:
• A high-performance entry gland with membrane seal that can be perforated without cutting, and so ensures IP55 protection for cables from 4mm to 25mm diameter
• Protective gaskets that prevent leaks and guarantee IP55 protection on both surface and flush mounting products
• Quarter turn closure at four points for quicker installation
• Watertight, visible and directly accessible fixing points for easier installation
Legrand also manufactures an IP66 range of wiring devices that incorporates corrosion resistant cover fixing screws and a patented cable entry accessory that grips and seals to deliver maintained IP66 protection. The Plexo brand portfolio also includes IP55 and IP66 weatherproof boxes that are available with either transparent or plain covers and accept IP 2X terminals, din rail and mounting plates.
