The Tertiary Implementation Measures of the EU’s Energy Related Products (ErP) Directive calls for an immediate phase out of basic T8 halophosphate tubes with T12 tubes and high intensity discharge lamps following in 2012 and 2015 (see chart below). Consequently, making the switch to OSRAM’s efficient alternatives not only provides savings, but also ensures that you can replace the product like-for-like in the future.
Fluorescent tubes are a mainstay of the professional lighting sector so the phase out of basic halophosphate tubes will undoubtedly affect many people. The good news is that OSRAM’s LUMILUX® range features a number of highly efficient fluorescent tubes that achieve legislative compliance and provide excellent benefits for the end user. By replacing basic tubes with LUMILUX® solutions you will benefit from high luminous flux, high luminous efficacy and excellent colour rendering.
LUMILUX® XT and XXT T8 fluorescent tubes are highly efficient solutions for industrial and commercial lighting systems where re-lamping involves high costs. Equipped with all the benefits of the LUMILUX® range, the XT and XXT are extremely reliable and feature a long service life which considerably extends the maintenance cycle resulting in reduced costs.
For existing internal lighting systems fitted with conventional control gear (CCG), OSRAM offers an energy-efficient alternative to inefficient fluorescent tubes. OSRAM’s LUMILUX® T8 Energy Saver (ES) enables energy costs to be reduced by up to 10% compared with the corresponding conventional lamps. This product also has an average life of 15,000 hours and stays brighter for longer leading to longer life cycles and therefore lower maintenance costs.
From 2012, high intensity discharge lamps will be affected. In that year, NAV®-E STANDARD, NAV®-E 4Y greater than 70W, NAV®-T STANDARD and NAV®-T 4Y lamps will be phased out, but OSRAM’s NAV®-T/E Super 4Y is the perfect replacement. These lamps benefit from higher luminous efficacy, longer lifetime and lower early failure rate that the phased out products.
In 2015, NAV®-E Plug-in lamps ≥ 210W and all HQL® mercury vapour lamps will be phased out, but these can be replaced with OSRAM’s Future NAV®-E Plug-in that will offer better lumen maintenance, up to 15% energy saving, and up to 30% higher luminous efficacy.
The phase out will see the removal of lamps that have dominated the office, street and industrial lighting sectors over the past years, but the alternatives that are available offer significant benefits. If you need to replace a lamp that has been phased out, look no further than OSRAM’s highly efficient range to find the ideal solution.
