ABB (stand I11) will be exhibiting its extensive range of electrical contractor products at ELEX 2006, 14-15 September at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, home to Coventry City Football Club.

Among the products on display will be the Housemaster Compact consumer unit. It has a flexible split load which provides added protection and isolation capabilities. A main isolating switch feeds essential circuits such as lighting and other circuits protected with residual current devices (RCD), whilst other devices, such as showers, can be assigned separate MCBs to protect against electrical faults without disrupting power distributed around the building.

Another key feature of the Housemaster is its ability to accommodate non-standard configurations. Instead of being confined to typical combinations of 4+4 or 6+6 only, it provides extra flexibility by enabling installers to achieve variations including 3+5 or 2+6.

Supporting the Housemaster will be ABB’s Alpha bs® wiring accessories, which includes a range of stylish switches and sockets, aimed at the architectural and interior design markets. The switches and sockets are available in a choice of five finishes: platinum, palladium, titanium, ivory and white.

The Alpha bs® range has been designed with fast and simple installation in mind. A modular design enables the internal components to be easily fixed onto a grid system, while the frame and switchplate or coverplate, which snap into position to conceal the mounting screws, do not have to be installed until the very last moment – ensuring they remain clean and undamaged.

ABB will also be showing its DOL and Star Delta enclosed starters, a range of controls for starting and stopping machinery. The starters make up part of ABB’s EPack range of electrical products,

which includes distribution, switching and control equipment, plus a comprehensive selection of domestic wiring accessories and consumer units.

A 24-hour delivery pledge ensures that, in the unlikely event that a particular EPack product is not immediately available from a wholesaler, it can be delivered the next day if ordered by 10am. Covering all EPack products, including star delta starters up to 30kW, this pledge forms part of ABB’s drive to deliver the best levels of product quality, service and support for its low voltage products.
