Big Increase in Use of Electronic Completion Certificates

Published: 12 November 2007 Category: News

The recent improvements to the ETCI electronic completion certificate system have led to a significant increase in the number of certificates being processed by this method. The main feature of this improvement is a validation process to match the MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number ) and Address on the electronic completion certificate with the MPRN and address on ESB Networks IT systems before the certificates are processed which will further improve safety and eliminate subsequent delays caused by mismatched information.

Big Increase in Use of Electronic Completion Certificates

The solution to implement these improvements on the ETCI Electronic Completion Certificate system involved the use of Web Services technology.

The Electrical Contractors who use the ETCI ECC IT system to create certificates will now get the address for the certificate from ESB Networks MPRN web site by entering a valid MPRN. A Web Service Client Project will send a request from the ETCI ECC System to ESB Networks Web Service querying the entered MPRN Number against the ESB Networks IT System.

The ESB Networks IT System will return associated address information and some additional technical information to the electrical contractor using the ETCI ECC system if the MPRN Number is valid. This will allow the contractor to validate MPRN and address before completing the remaining steps to create the certificate.

The solution was developed by ESBI Computing for ETCI.

Using the system is very straightforward and assistance ,if needed, is always available on the RECI Helpline 01 4929966 during working hours.

There are now over 500 RECI contractors who are up on the system and can issue electronic completion certificates.
