The smart new Dimplex Quantum heating system has been installed in selected homes in Merseyside, part of a portfolio of homes owned and managed by Plus Dane Housing Group.

The installations took place in a heating upgrade to flats in Crosby with the installation of the revolutionary low carbon Quantum heater in hallways, sitting rooms and bedrooms. Kitchens were fitted with space-saving downflow heaters and the bathrooms with the Dimplex Apollo radiant panel heater plus a timer control, safely combining heating with towel drying.

And the scheme received a warm welcome from everyone involved in the project – from the person who did the original specification, through to the contract management, installation team and the end-user customers.

Plus Dane’s planned investment manager Dennis Lally evaluated a number of options for the heating system upgrade and became one of the first social housing providers to specify the Quantum.

“We were very interested to hear about the potential for up to 27% lower running costs offered by the Dimplex Quantum and were keen to give our customers an upgrade with a more modern system with greater control. We plan to follow up satisfaction experience in more detail but so far we’ve had very good feedback” said Dennis Lally.

The project was managed by Sean Fleming of award-winning Liverpool building contractors Frank Rogers. The £10m company is contracted to provide Plus Dane with property maintenance services throughout the Merseyside area.

Installers DJH Electrical Limited provided the professional installation team to install the Quantum and new heating system, which also helped to secure the company’s Green Deal accreditation. Each property took up to two days to complete and installers were impressed with the new heaters as well as the reactions of the occupiers.

“We were delighted to be involved in the installation of Dimplex Quantum Heaters for Plus Dane,” said DJH managing director Darren Hallmark.   “We’re impressed with the Quantum heaters which were easy and quick to install and the controls were really simple to set and explain. The great thing was the first reaction of the occupiers who were delighted at the prospect of better heating and lower bills and they all commented on how smart and modern the new heating looked,” he added.

The Quantum heater has been designed to provide up to 97% of the heat required at off -peak rates and it achieves this by using insulation with a thermal conductivity which is so low that it is almost down to the lowest theoretically possible figure according to the laws of physics. It also features dynamic storage capacity to automatically adjust input and output to user requirements. This means it can as closely match a user-set room temperature over a 24 hour period as a conventional panel convector heater, and it is infinitely controllable, thanks to a user-friendly electronic interface with LCD display..
