Horstmann Controls completely upgraded series 3 Electronic 7 immersion heater control has full BEAB certification and offers a range of features that make it an attractive proposition for both the user and the installer alike.
The BEAB Approved Mark is important as it demonstrates to everyone in the supply chain that the UK's leading, independent approvals specialists have evaluated a product to the highest European and International standards.
Among the Electronic 7’s range of features is its full compatibility with all utility tariffs and, unlike some controls, it is not restricted by cumbersome tariff menu’s. Off peak settings are programmed using simple step-by-step on screen programming and coupled with its plug-in and replace installation, the unit has ease of use features for the installer and user alike.
The Horstmann Economy 7 Quartz family of controls has for many years been the UK’s all time best selling range of immersion heater controls. Now, with the new Electronic 7, earlier models can be quickly upgraded with minimal cost and disruption using the plug-in connectors and without the need to change the wiring or wall mounted back box.
With a more contemporary look featuring a larger back lit display, the latest Electronic 7 is fitted with an automatic clock that is pre-set on manufacture and which automatically adjusts to accommodate GMT/BST summer/winter time changes.
There is also a long life battery which will maintain the clock and display settings and also switch time settings with the mains supply disconnected. This should be sufficient to cover all unexpected interruptions during the life of the control.
Electronic 7 can be used with single, dual or twin element immersion heaters and allows for up to three secure off-peak heating periods every 24 hours, making maximum use of electricity when tariffs are cheaper.
The control retains the 1 hour boost button that permits the householder to activate a short term override of the set programme or, if it is known that extra hot water will be required every day, the ‘boost’ element (in the cylinder) can be programmed so that it will heat only a small part of the tank. This is normally the upper immersion heater element and can be programmed to come on once each day at a set time.
And, as some utility tariffs offer additional cheaper electricity periods during the day time, the Electronic 7 has extra off peak switching periods available to accommodate these.
