Fujitsu proposed a full Nexans solution based on LANmark dual foil F²TP cables with screened copper connectivity, Nexans fibre optic cables & components, together with Nexans rack cabinets and patch cords.
What was essential to BA was the need for a state of the art solution that was both reliable and future proof. The Fujitsu design based on the LANmark end-to-end solution provided BA with a cost effective, scalable and extremely powerful infrastructure system. Being a Nexans Certified System Installer (CSI), Fujitsu possesses the high caliber to provide local support as well as proper implementation procedures according to the International Standards requirements.
The contract was won against tough competition but BA realized during the evaluation process that the Nexans LANmark solution was the best technical proposal among all others in terms of product quality, Channel Performance, and the unique offering of the Dual foil F²TP cable.
The installation involved 130 Km of F²TP cable, 10 Km of 8 core Fibre Optic cable, 1000 Fibre Optic terminations, and 2500 data outlets. There are also 32 rack cabinets serving as distribution points dispersed over the building’s area. The complete implementation process was executed by the Fujitsu team.
At later stage Fujitsu were requested by BA to provide a Gigabit backbone to link their site with the Alexandria Conferences Center (ACC) which is located 500 meters away. Nexans was able to offer the most cost effective solution by proposing GIGAlite II Multimode Fiber Cable without the need to replace the existing active equipment.
The installation has now been completed and a full Nexans warranty has been issued.
