Pirelli’s FP200 Gold® fire performance cable is used with FP FIREFIX™ throughout the building, which is being totally refurbished. Positioned in the centre of London, the building at 165 Fleet Street is within close proximity to offices, shops and residential dwellings, so it was essential that noise levels were kept to a minimum during installation as well as achieving a fast installation. Using the FP FIREFIX™ system is the best way to achieve this because the fire resistant cables can be installed more easily than using traditional fixing methods.
Always interested in trying out new ideas, Richard Grudnik, the contracts manager for MALA Electrical, the contractors responsible for the design and build of the complete electrical installation, decided to use FP FIREFIX™ after seeing a site demonstration. Richard said: “I am pleased with Pirelli’s FP FIREFIX™ because it is easy to use and is aesthetically acceptable.
“It has the advantage of being faster to install than traditional clips and screws and the relatively low noise output allows the Spit Pulsa tool to be used during times when noise was restricted. Fixing with the gas tool is far less intrusive than the sound of hammer drills and as this versatile tool is not restricted for use only on FP FIREFIX™, it was used successfully on other parts of the installation.”
