ABB, a global leader in power and automation, is presenting how ZigBee Light Link connects smart light control with ABB control ranges. Adjusting the building lighting according to the situation is one of the most popular applications in the intelligent living sector. ABB´s ZigBee Light Link, which is introduced in Germany, Netherlands and Austria under the Busch-Jaeger brand – a member of the ABB Group, is a future-proof radio frequency system for easy and intuitive light control in private residences.

Alongside cabled bus systems, radio solutions are always preferred. In particular when networked systems should be used in both new buildings and modernization projects. Sending switch pulses over radio waves avoids the need to lay new cables, avoiding considerable cost. The so-called mesh network principle is used here, substantially increasing the building's radio range. ZigBee Light Link from ABB also offers attractive options to combine the existing lighting system with new radio-controlled lamps. The entire system can be operated in parallel by wired and battery-operated user elements – in conjunction with external systems such as Philips Hue – by tablet or smart phone.
The innovative lighting control enables individual lights to be switched on and off or entire scenes selected for atmospheric lighting. And ZigBee Light Link is even more flexible: The system design with up to 20 network components in different rooms can be integrated with both ABB products and products from other suppliers, including Philips Hue, Osram and Paul Neuhaus. ABB´s light control also enables you to select between white and colored light. The all-off function is a practical and energy-saving feature, enabling all networked lights to be turned off at the same time at the touch of a button.
The ZigBee range includes 1gang, 2gang and 4gang operating elements with electronic flush-mounted applications. 1gang, 2gang and 4gang battery-operated radio wall transmitters are also available. There is also an adapter for the socket outlet, which can be used as a switch. A major advantage: The operating elements LED dimmer, relay switch and power pack can be combined with ABB/Busch-Jaeger light switch ranges c a r a t®, pure stainless steel, s o l o®, Busch-axcent® and f u t u r e® linear.
ZigBee Light Link works with a transmission frequency of 2.4 GHz which can be installed worldwide. 'The Connected Lighting Alliance', a community of well-known lighting manufacturers, sees ZigBee as the radio standard of the future. In order to keep ZigBee Light Link always up to date of the latest technology, ABB provides a USB update stick in order to be able to easily use the products with a new firmware
or function.
