In factory automation the safe and reliable operation of a motor is a key factor for productivity and therefore also for economical success.

The new generation of modular motor control and protection devices for applications up to 18.5 kW / 400 V from ABB supports this issue and makes it easier to maximise the productivity, increase efficiency and achieve greater flexibility in various applications.
The integration of the new product family into the application is easy to manage due to the offering of a standardised 45 mm colour-coordinated housing across the whole range. The system also helps to simplify planning and reduce costs by featuring a set of accessories common with other ABB ranges.
Electronic devices such as the modular motor control and protection devices are much more reliable than legacy mechanical systems. In addition to that the new family includes an innovative starter solution that achieves less resistance per phase, a reduction in thermal load, lower energy consumption and is up to a third lighter than comparable mechanical devices on the market. This does not only help to protect the environment, but also reduces energy costs.
The new range of the contactors integrates an AC/DC coil. Therefore only one contactor for a wide range of AC and DC voltages is needed. This increases flexibility and drastically reduces the engineering risks.
Protecting the environment is one of the key issues already today and even more in future. For this reason the ABB device components are manufactured from recyclable raw materials. The new generation of motor control and protection devices takes the essential matter of environmental compatibility a step further by increasing energy efficiency right across the range.
