New ownership brings great opportunities: Novar Ireland Ltd. settles in with Honeywell

Published: 12 June 2007 Category: News

Since the acquisition of Novar by Honeywell just over a year ago, Novar Ireland Ltd. has settled into life under the new ownership, which has brought many positives including investment in new products and an expanded sales team.

Based in New Jersey, USA, Honeywell International is a $30 billion diversified technology and manufacturing corporation serving customers worldwide through five global divisions: aerospace products and services; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials (www.honeywell.com).

Commenting on Honeywell’s acquisition of the UK-based Novar company last year, Novar Ireland Managing Director, Eamon Conway, said:

“We have ‘slotted in’ well into Honeywell’s way of working- it is very much a growth oriented company, as demonstrated by the significant capital investment made in MK Electric, where the budget has been increased eightfold.  At the same time, we have been essentially ‘left alone’ as a stand-alone operation within Honeywell.

“In the Republic of Ireland the MK, Friedland and Ackerman brands, and third-party products such as Hamilton, Illusol and CTEC, come under Honeywell’s Environmental and Combustion Controls Division, while Gent fire systems and Honeywell building management systems come under the separate Honeywell Building Solutions Division.

“Our challenge is to achieve further growth in all sectors of the market- and to do this we need new products.  MK has always been a market leader in innovation- and with Honeywell we are seeing much more activity in this area.  In addition, we need to adapt to changing needs of the market and to adapt sales and marketing programmes accordingly.

Key People:

“We have restructured our sales force and are now, hopefully, geared up to provide our customers with an ever improving service level and to introduce all of the new products that are planned over the next year.

“We divide the country into east and west regions, with Aiden Hayes as Area Manager for the east region and Dublin-based Simon McCarthy and Newbridge-based Paul Mimnaugh as Business Development Managers.  In the west region, Colm O’Regan in Limerick is Area Manager, with Galway-based Jason McPherson and Cork-based Pat O’Leary as Business Development Managers.  In Northern Ireland, Nigel Crockard has recently joined our team as Business Development Manager.  All of these have significant electrical industry experience and are well respected in their particular areas.

“Also, Nicky Behan is continuing with MK on a part-time basis until year-end, and our internal sales team in Dublin has also been strengthened, where we now have six personnel headed by David Lee.

“While we face many challenges ahead, I am confident that we have a team in place that can face these head on and deliver for our customers.”
