Vent-Axia offers near silent energy efficient ventilation for Gentoo

Gentoo are committed to delivering on the Government's affordable housing agenda and increasing the supply of affordable housing across Sunderland and beyond. A £34 million investment from the Homes and Communities Agency, provided as part of the Government’s Kick Start funding scheme, has enabled Gentoo to create much-needed housing for local people in the areas they want to live in and in homes they can afford.  Installation of Vent-Axia’s Centra dMEV system has already taken place at several Gentoo developments across the region with others set to be completed by mid 2011 in a variety of different sized affordable homes – a mix of apartments, bungalows and two and three bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced houses.

Gentoo identified continuous ventilation technology from Vent-Axia as the ideal solution to help meet the latest Building Regulations Document F 2010. The Centra dMEV system delivers an impressive result for Gentoo, reducing unnecessary heat loss and saving on carbon and fuel bills for homeowners whilst providing very low noise levels.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Vent-Axia and have always found the company’s ventilation products to be reliable, robust, long lasting and value for money” says Kevin Shanley, Senior Electrical Designer at Gentoo. “The Lo-Carbon™ Centra was chosen for our new build properties because it can be installed in any wet room such as a kitchen, bathroom, en-suite or toilet making it a simpler procurement process. It is also one of the quietest and most efficient fans on the market with easy on-site adjustment of the ventilation rates to suit the fan location.”

Vent-Axia’s Centra is a discreet, near silent dMEV solution incorporating the latest DC technology and so delivering the lowest specific fan power in its class. The unit’s energy saving Lo-Carbon™ DC motors improve its efficiency and carbon reducing capabilities, providing up to 90% energy savings and a 62kg carbon reduction. It also minimises running costs and maximises the longevity of the product.

Offering virtually silent operation with sound levels as low as 6dBa, a fresh design and a reduction in the requirement for trickle ventilators, the Centra extract fan not only helps reduce DER’s in SAP, but fits discreetly in modern homes and is simple to install. Adjustable ‘Normal’ running speeds make it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, toilets and utility rooms. Featuring a 100mm spigot common with traditional intermittent extract fans, the Centra also simplifies the specification process.

Centra is part of the Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon™ collection of energy saving ventilation solutions. The aim of the Lo-Carbon™ initiative is to offer the latest low carbon ventilation technology in order to reduce building energy consumption and so carbon emissions.
