€36m will be invested by the Bank of Ireland to complete extensive repairs, upgrades and restoration work on its College Green buildings in central Dublin. The former parliamentary building served as the bank's head office until the 1970s and now functions as working branch.

As reported in Business Plan, subject to permission pending, the five-year project will be the single largest investment in the College Green building for more than 200 years, and the planned works include improved facilities for customers and work spaces for staff.
The works will involve repairs and upgrades to 280 windows, 45 staircases and 20km of electrical cabling. College Green also has 54 roofs, 80 roof lights and a combined 2.5km of roof walkways.
The bank is being advised by conservation architects Consarc, Irish-based international engineering firm Garland, and quantity surveyors KSN.
Bank of Ireland intends to submit a detailed application to Dublin City Council Dublin City Council soon. Subject to approval being granted, the company will tender for the main project contractor.
