The new Busch-CO2 sensor measures air quality and humidity and adjusts fresh air intake
ABB, a global leader in power and automation, is showing the new product solution at the Light+Building event in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The Busch-CO2 sensor is introduced in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands under the Busch-Jaeger brand – a member of the ABB Group.
Thanks to energy saving regulations, modern new buildings and restored buildings now enjoy good heat insulation. Insulated windows, roofs and walls mean very low levels of air exchange. Benefit: Energy savings. Drawback: CO2 concentrations in rooms increase – along with air humidity. ABB now offers an innovative solution to ensure you have just the right amount of fresh air with its Busch-CO2 sensor.
CO2 is an odourless and tasteless gas. It is formed when we breathe out and high levels can make you feel unwell or bring about losses in concentration and performance. Especially in places where people congregate – for example in meetings, conferences and classrooms – the CO2 concentration in the air should not exceed 1000 ppm. Good ambient air quality is now guaranteed with a ventilation system, controlled by the new CO2 sensor from ABB.
The new Busch-CO2 sensor not only measures CO2 concentration in the air, but also humidity, air pressure and temperature. All four values are shown on the display. Upper limits for carbon dioxide and humidity can be set via the user-friendly keypad. Any excess levels trigger a relay switch. This automatically opens windows or switches on a ventilator. This can also be set on the keypad. The ambient air sensor keeps an eye on levels and switches off when they drop below the limit: windows close, ventilators switch off. Stopping times can also be set. The ambient air sensor also runs in manual or automatic mode.
The new Busch-CO2 sensor from ABB can be installed in custom flush-mounted socket devices and can be integrated in nearly any of the electronic installation market leader‘s switch ranges.
