PROJECT IN MORE DETAIL:

The Background:
Energy saving lighting from Philips has ensured Coombe Lodge continues to offer its customers a pleasant dining experience whilst operational costs are kept to acceptable level. Unsurprisingly, top quality food and excellent service are prerequisites for the judging criteria.

The Challenge:
Increased customer demand and extended licensing hours also mean that increased running costs become the norm. This is, of course, unless preventative measures can be adopted to counteract this effect. Indeed, energy saving lighting products have the potential to significantly impact on the total electrical bill.

This is particularly important in view of the fact that lighting accounts for approximately 20% of UK electricity consumption and in the retail and hospitality environment this figure can rise to 40%.

The Lighting Solution:
MASTERLine ESWith this in mind wholesalers, Mega Supplies Ltd, developed an easy to use lamp guide, which can be used by staff at Coombe Lodge when requesting lamp replacements. This not only enables easy identification but also offered the opportunity to switch to more energy efficient products such as Philips MASTERLine ES lamps (pictured right), which have up to 66% more lifetime compared to standard conventional dichroics.

Increased reliability, longer lifetimes and greater energy efficiency all contribute to lower maintenance costs without compromise to the quality of the lighting. The look and feel of any restaurant or bar is of vital importance for customer recommendation and repeat visits therefore if lower energy costs can be combined with performance reliability then this has to be a win-win situation for any restauranteur.

As restaurant manager, Amando Ciofi explains, “We pride ourselves in the hospitality that Coombe Lodge offers. Dining out is an experience to be enjoyed. A pleasant ambience is of course important but above all the food has to be first rate. This means quality produce but also presentation. Philips Infra Red lamps allows us to serve our customers confident that the food will be as appetizing when it reaches them as when it leaves our kitchens.”

Mega Supplies also suggested switching to Philips Infra red 300 W lamps ensuring quality and presentation of the food was consistent from kitchen to table. By using tubular Philips Infra Red lamps an even spread of heat is achieved across the plate without spot heating.
