Dimplex strides forward with heating into the digital age at the Electric Event

Foremost among them, perhaps, on stands 30 and 31 is the very special Quantum space heater, launched to great acclaim 18 months ago. This uses close and clever control to ensure that heat is provided always when it’s wanted and never when it is not – unless otherwise required. Indeed, Dimplex claims that this product is unique; it certainly was when launched.

However, visitors will also see the company’s other new products, including the Quantum water cylinder and the brand new Q-Rad electric radiator. The latter is – like the Quantum – algorithm-driven to provide close self-learning control of the heat provided at all times to save as much energy as possible. Indeed, as Dimplex marketing director Chris Stammers pointed out, Dimplex now employs IT and electronics control experts in-house to develop the necessary control systems for today’s heating products.

He said: “It (the Q-Rad) all adds up to increased economy and it features both radiant and convective heating, as well as integral touch programming with screen colour coding – green shows the householder that money is being saved, while red means the opposite.

Chris Stammers also pointed out that Dimplex is looking further to the future and is developing heating products that can be controlled via smart devices, such as smartphones and tablets. The ‘Internet of Things’ is truly coming. Dimplex says within a couple of years…

Such products can, says Dimplex - which now provides a broad choice of over 700 products within the electric space-heating sector alone, believed to be the widest in the world – unlock still more business prospects for clued-up electrical contractors.

The complete product portfolio should cover most installer and contractors’ needs, and covers installed domestic electric heating, including the Quantum energy management system, commercial heating products (air curtains etc), renewable solutions (heat pumps and solar thermal etc), plus award-winning electric fires.

So, for those going to the Electric Event later today or tomorrow, do go along to stands 30 and 31 to see it all.

But that’s not all, for, Dimplex also sponsored a Technology Live Workshop called ‘Delivering affordable, energy efficient, low carbon solutions to homes and buildings’ today Thursday 29th May. It was presented by Shaun Hurworth, who explained the phase – ‘unlocking more business for electrical contractors’ – by examining the opportunity of replacing storage heaters in 2.4m homes with new high energy efficient thermal energy systems. These will allow consumers to have 24/7 control with significant running cost savings.
