The extension of the Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 2 until 2011 is good news for RSLs, as it means that even more social housing providers can now benefit from Dimplex’s experience in accessing the grants for up to 50% of costs for renewable technologies.
What’s more, the scheme now covers all Dimplex products registered on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme or carrying the Solar Keymark, so applicants also have greater choice over the technology that’s best for their project.
Dimplex’s experience in LCBP2 installations is unrivalled, as it has been one of three appointed framework suppliers for ground source heat pumps since the start of the programme in 2006 and has assisted many public sector and social housing organisations including Stafford and Rural Homes, Ealing Council, Flagship Housing Group, various community centres and even a lifeboat station! In fact, Dimplex equipment has been specified on nearly half of all LCBP2 heat pump applications to date and this experience means that Dimplex continues to be the natural choice as the scheme is extended.
Although LCBP2 now continues to offer the best opportunities, there are also other funding opportunities available to social housing providers. The Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) is one such alternative, with the funding available depending on the level of carbon-dioxide emissions likely to be saved, based on the size of the property and the type of heating system being superseded. And this choice of options can make it difficult for RSLs to be sure they’ve found the maximum funding for their projects.
