20th March 2009. RTE celebrity Duncan Stewart announced the winners of the first ever all-Ireland Register of Electrical Contractors of Ireland (RECI) Awards in Dublin, Friday 20th at the Burlington Hotel. The awards ceremony saw ‘bright sparks’ in the electrical contracting sector from all over the country awarded for their commitment to electrical safety and excellence.
The RECI Awards are supported by Hibernian Aviva and Arachas Corporate Brokers and represent the largest initiative to promote electrical safety in Ireland. It recognises top performers in the electrical contracting industry and encourages higher standards throughout the sector.
Longford’s Conefrey Electrical Services Ltd was one of the top performers of the night, and was named National Winner in the domestic category. Kirby Group Engineering of Limerick was also named National Winner in the Industrial/Commercial category. Commenting on these big wins, David McGloughlin, RECI General Manager said: “It is a great honour to be named a RECI award winner and to be recognised by industry peers. I hope that this accolade promotes awareness of electrical safety among Longford and Limerick consumers”.
The national RECI Electrical Contractor of the Year gong was among one of many awards bestowed at the event. In total there were 16 award winners, two each (Domestic and Industrial/Commercial categories) selected from the eight RECI Regions. This year’s winners include:

Further commenting on the RECI awards and the winners, Michael Garvey of Hibernian Aviva said, “There were so many excellent entries for the RECI awards and it was great to see electrical contracting firms working hard to improve electrical safety standards in the industry. David McGloughlin, RECI General Manager further commented on the awards and said:

Electrical contractors from all over the country entered the awards scheme, revealing a healthy electrical contracting industry in Ireland. It is our hope at RECI that this award scheme raises awareness among consumers across the country of the importance of using only fully-registered, competent and certified electrical contractors to carry out all electrical installations”.
