An investment of over £4million from Siemens has enabled full manufacturing of a new and innovative power distribution board – the SIVACON S4 - to take place in Wythenshawe in the UK.
SIVACON S4 has been launched by Siemens to offer maximum safety, efficiency and electrical protection standards in a modern and attractive industrial design that is completely configurable to meet customer requirements.
Eric Anderson, sales and marketing manager for the Siemens Low Voltage division in the UK, commented: “The significant investment in the Wythenshawe manufacturing site has enabled us to complete the full manufacture of this innovative new product in the UK. The skills and expertise of those on site ensure each SIVACON S4 distribution board is of the highest quality. We can then work with our network of approved solution partners to make sure each board meets the specific needs of its application.”
SIVACON S4 has been designed to meet the latest demands in commercial buildings. The architecture of many buildings is changing, with functional control cabinets no longer just installed in the cellar, but increasingly sited on floors above ground. This means aesthetic appeal and flexibility in terms of product configuration and footprint are now significant considerations alongside efficiency and safety performance.
The Wythenshawe factory, where the new product is being manufactured to meet UK specifications, is home to over 200 employees. In addition to the manufacturing process, on-site fabrication, painting, assembly and testing are also completed on site.
The type-tested switchgear not only provides assured reliability and safety – essential to meet today’s stringent requirements - but can also be easily integrated into the building control technology and management system due to the system’s built-in intelligence. Thanks to its modular form, it also provides flexibility and low component variance.
The ventilation system in SIVACON S4 has been designed for increased efficiency and easy maintenance and prevents heat accumulation and pockets, providing long-term system availability.
Personal safety is assured thanks to an easily operated locking system. This provides fast access to devices with central locking, swivel frames and quick-release locks whilst ensuring that even in the event of a fault or system failure, there can be no accidental contact with any ‘live’ elements of the system.
