The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), one of the world’s leading classification societies for ships and marine-related facilities, has granted approval to all of the 24-V power supplies in Phoenix Contact's Quint Power SFB (Selective Fusebreaking Technology) product range.
Such maritime uses place great demands on the technology in terms of climatic strains and mechanical loads, as well as electromagnetic compatibility. The approval from classification society ABS attests to the trouble-free operation and long life-span these power supplies have to offer. All single and three-phase power supplies with adjustable output voltages from 18 to 29.5 V DC meet the high quality standards of this institute. Among the properties tested are ambient temperature, humidity, vibration, pressure, and conducted interference.
Utilizing SFB technology, these power supplies are equipped with the first-ever standard fuse breakers able to trip six-fold rated current for 12 ms. With the aid of these dynamic current reserves, the faulty current path is selectively de-energized to isolate the fault so that critical system components can remain in operation. A static Power Boost power reserve with up to 1.5 times the rated current is permanently available to ensure the reliable startup of loads with high inrush currents. Permanent monitoring of the output voltages and currents allows for comprehensive diagnostics. This preventative function monitoring visualizes critical operation states and reports them to the controller before errors occur.
