Schneider Electric has once again sponsored the Top 50 Electrical Contractor Report in partnership with Electrical Times.
The popular report ranks the UK's Top 50 electrical contractors taking into consideration the number of employees, return on sales, growth in profit and turnover and this year unveiled Southern Electric Contracting in the top spot. As part of the report, Schneider Electric has provided valuable advice on the four steps to energy efficiency and how contractors can add value to projects by educating customers on the simple steps to reduce energy usage.
The report reflected interesting results not only in light of the economic slowdown but also as it is an uncertain time for the construction industry, as Stewart Gregory, Director of Schneider Electric Building Systems and Solutions comments: "A lot has happened in the last few years; the world's economy was buoyant, then the UK was officially declared in recession, and more recently, we were promised the green shoots' of recovery. The lack of cash has significantly impacted on the construction industry, first affecting the residential market then the private commercial sector, with Government backed projects being the big hope.
"The report certainly illustrates this turbulence with ten companies showing a loss this year, where 40 companies have made a profit and it was interesting to see the top spot filled by a company that is currently backed by a bigger organisation.
"While there may be a decline in new build projects, there is still an opportunity in the market by looking at energy management. At Schneider Electric, we are continuing to pioneer the latest technologies to meet the market's growing demand for energy efficiency and encouraging businesses to make the most of their energy."
Schneider Electric encompasses many internationally renowned brands including Merlin Gerin, Telemecanique and Square D, but is moving into the future with just one Schneider Electric brand. The company has a range of products and services to suit the customer's needs, producing solutions to ensure energy remains safe, reliable and efficient.
