Between January and March of this year, Voltimum surveyed 3,905 electrical professionals across 13 countries to garner their hopes and expectations for the industry in the remainder of 2015. The results have proven extremely positive, with respondents predicting better business performance, more sales of 'smart products' and an increase in online sales.

Here at Voltimum we always like to have our finger on the pulse of the latest trends in the electrical industry, so over the last few months we have been speaking to electrical professionals all over the world to get their view on the state of the industry.
Our research surveyed 3,905 electricians, contractors, manufacturers and wholesalers across Austria, Australia, Brazil, Columbia, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK. We asked whether they expected 2015 to be a better year for their business than 2014, if they expected to buy or sell more products online than they did in 2014, and whether they expected to fit or sell more 'smart technology' devices in 2015 than they have in previous years.
Overall these results forecast the outlook to be extremely bright for the electrical industry, with our respondents expecting to see business improve with enhanced sales of 'smart devices' and an increase in online sales.
Four fifths of those surveyed (81%) said they believed 2015 would be the same or better for business than 2014 – of which 55% said it would be a better year, and 26% said it would be the same as the previous year. The group of professionals with the most positive outlook was electrical manufacturers, of whom nearly two thirds (64%) believed it would be a better year for business.
Electrical professionals were equally positive about the increase in 'smart technology' devices they'd be selling in 2015. 81% of all respondents expected the figure to stay constant or be higher than ever this year – with 18% expecting the figure to stay the same and 63% expecting to see an increase.
When asked about online sales in 2015, respondents continued their optimism. Just over half of the respondents (52%) expected to buy or sell more products online this year, highlighting how the E- Commerce market is truly a booming global phenomenon.
With such a positive outlook from the industry, we at Voltimum are excited to see these trends develop throughout the year.
