An electrician who had his work van, consisting of £3,000 worth of tools stolen, has managed to relocate it thanks to the power of social media.
41 year old Craig Spillane came back to smashed glass after parking it in Manchester City centre and has been left thousands of pounds out of pocket.
As reported in Stoke Sentinel, Craig not only had all of his tools stolen, but merchandise for mental health support group, Men Unite, which he founded.
Members of Men Unite have set up an online fund-raising appeal to help Craig replace his tools.
The van was said to be up for sale for £600 with the number-plate blurred out, however the self-employed electrician turned detective to take down the registration number of another vehicle in the image. He passed the information on to the police and officers managed to locate the van and retrieve it.
“Thanks to the power of social media and my detective work, I’ve got my van back. I haven't been able to work the week before Christmas and had to let some clients down" said Craig.
